Description
A medium sized theropod; Cryolophosaurus was about 6 meters (20ft) in length. Although its classification has been debated hotly, it was likely a "Dilophosaurid" Coelophysoid (Yes, I said Coelophysoid). It was the first dinosaur discovered in Antarctica, which was covered in cool, temperate forest during the Early Jurassic. Certainly not as cold nowadays, but it got a little chilly once in a while. Before being officially named, it was referred to as "Elvisaurus", for the pompadour-style display crest on the top of its head (a characteristic of some coelophysoids). It lived alongside the "prosauropod" Glacialosaurus, which was possible prey for Cryolophosaurus, albeit a hard to kill prey animal. Instead, this Cryolophosaurus decides to scavenge along a beach. He finds himself a beached ammonite, who's helpless to the theropod's maw.

A recent reanalysis shows that this guy was a unidentified basal tetanuran opposed to a true dilophosaurid.
That's the third time his phylogeny has changed. :I
