Jeholornis prima

A fairly large Mesozoic bird that can grow to about 80 cm (2.6 ft) in length, Jeholornis was a herbivore; eating primarily seeds and fruit.  In fact, the type specimen was found with a large amount of seeds in it's stomach region.  It had a very long, bony tail with a fan of frond like feathers on the end of it's tail.  It also had a plume of feathers at the base of the tail, something that was found fairly recently.  It lived during the Early Cretaceous in China.  The genus Shenzhouraptor is widely considered to be a junior synonym of Jeholornis.
