Smilosuchus gregorii

Smilosuchus is one of the largest known phytosaurs, and among the largest terrestrial carnivores of the Triassic period, growing up to 11 meters (36 ft) in length.  Like other phytosaurs, it is very similar to crocodiles.  However it has several differences from them, including more primitive ankles, higher and farther backed-placed nostrils, and they are usually more heavily armored.  It probably preyed on large dicynodonts, dinosaurs, and perhaps aetosaurs.
